Student Support
At Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School, we believe that every child is a unique creation of God.
We have a real commitment to, and enthusiasm for, the development of the whole child. We measure success not only in terms of academic attainment, but in developing our students into caring, and responsible young citizens.
To facilitate this growth and development we have a team of professionals who lead in pastoral care. Students receive guided support from transition into secondary school then on through all stages of school life. Our detailed transition programme includes visits to NBS, meeting with a member of the Senior Leadership Team and primary school liaison visits by our transition coordinators.
Our emphasis on well-being, means that our students feel supported and cared for. Support is provided through our pastoral system, while extra help is available from our trained Counsellors. We also offer Rainbow group counselling for students who have experienced loss or bereavement.
We also encourage strong student leadership in our young people, with a student leadership team and a commitment to our Student Voice. All students have the opportunity to contribute through our successful House System. These provide opportunities to share in leading the school forward, including consultation groups, school surveys, working parties and individual contribution.
We promote achievement of all students in all areas of life and encourage students to see success as a measure of a whole and rounded life, not limited by definitions of purely educational aspiration.
