Leadership Opportunities

We encourage all our students to lead in different areas of school life, to encourage a sense of responsibility and increase their confidence and social skills.

Key Leadership Roles

In Years 7-11 each Form Group has two House Captains, who report to the Student Leadership Team above. In addition to these roles, students from all years can apply to be librarians. Students in Year 10 can apply to be a Reading Mentor to provide support for a student in Year 7 or 8, and sixth form students can also apply to be peer mentors.

Sixth Form Leaders

As well as the Leadership Team, students have the opportunity to take on a vast array of different leadership opportunities. These include leading our Marist Mercy Care charity work and running our school magazine, as well as Drama, Music and Sporting leadership opportunities. Year 12 students are invited to apply for a Senior Prefect role in which they lead on lunchtime supervision and activities for the lower school.

"My time at NBS has been massive for my growth, both academically and personally. This school has given me so many opportunities to develop into a more confident and ambitious person, and it’s really helped solidify my goal of studying law at university. As Head Boy, I want to make sure every student feels supported and comfortable expressing their thoughts, knowing they’ll be listened to. NBS has shaped me into who I am today, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next."

"NBS has provided me with invaluable opportunities to step outside my comfort zone, fostering both personal and academic growth. It has instilled in me the confidence to set ambitious goals and persevere in the face of challenges. Through my experiences at NBS, I have discovered a passion for psychology, which I aspire to pursue at university. My goal is to use this knowledge to give back to my community and support individuals facing difficulties."

“One thing I love about NBS is the way they push you to be the best version of yourself, whether that be socially, academically, or otherwise. This school will equip you with the tools you need to succeed in the way that you want. Personally, I can say that my aspiration to become an aerospace engineer had flourished from the intricate and meticulous teaching that takes place at this school. I hope to deliver the same opportunity for all students and improve further from it to make aspirations and dreams come true.”

“ I love that NBS has created a great environment where we can nurture our beautiful gifts even if we don’t know that we have them. There is a beautiful blend of a supportive community and quality of education. The school has allowed me to recognise my leadership skills along with the impact that I can make in society. As I prepare to leave NBS, I aim to embody the values from the pupil profile and share them with the wider world.”

“My journey at NBS has been one of constant growth and development, and it has only been possible due to the positive environment that the staff and students have created, rooted in the Christian values of peace, justice, truth, and love. Throughout my time here, I have been equipped with the skills to tackle real-world problems that the most vulnerable in society face and intend to do so by studying Maths and Economics at university, with the focus of reducing inequality and creating opportunities.”

“My time at NBS has encouraged me to grow and become more confident as a person. I’ve been given many opportunities that have allowed me to work outside of my comfort zone. Through my studies here, I’ve developed a passion for advocacy, particularly influenced by my interest in Religious Studies, which has strengthened my logical thinking and argumentation skills. This has inspired me to pursue a career in law and NBS has given me a strong foundation to diligently follow this path.”

“My time at NBS has been interesting, and has most certainly played a part in shaping my development both personally and professionally; I believe it has helped in shaping my views and values. NBS has deepened my beliefs in standing up for what is right and as such I would potentially like to pursue law after my time here; during my time here I hope to create a school where all students feel valued and heard.”

“You don’t just leave NBS with your grades, you leave having become a new person. This incredible community has equipped me with wisdom, compassion and courage that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I hope to go on to study Global Development at university, so that I can help tackle conventional global challenges, and build a better world.”
